PRINCETON UNIVERSITY ADMISSIONS  Admissions at Princeton University are very selective with acceptance rate of only 5.5%. Out of 32,804 applications that the university received for the Class of 2023, only 1,895 were offered admission. Princeton University considers U.S. citizens and non-U.S. citizens alike in the admission and financial process.

  • Due to increased applcation across Ivy League colleges, the joint notification date for 2021 will be April 6, 2021. The candidate response deadline will be May 3, 2021.
  • For undergraduate programs at Princeton, you apply to Princeton and not to a particular department or school.
  • More than 40 percent of Graduate School students are citizens of other countries.
  • The application to a master’s or Ph.D. program is the same for U.S. citizens, permanent residents or international applicants.
  • The Davis International Center helps international students with all aspects of the visa process in order to study abroad.

Princeton University offers undergraduate degree programs in 35 subject areas. Admission applications received in 2019 fall semester came from 10,813 high schools of 161 countries. Where to Apply for Princeton University’s Undergraduate Programs

Students can apply for admission to their desired program in the fall semester through one of the three application portals:

  • Common Application
  • Coalition Application
  • Universal College Application

Application Deadline for Princeton University’s Undergraduate Programs

There are two application deadlines for candidates applying to an undergraduate programs at Princeton:

  • Early Action Deadline: November 1
  • Regular Decision Deadline: January 1

Admission Requirements for International Students

  • Official transcripts and school reports
  • One recommendation from guidance counsellor, 2 from teachers
  • SAT/ACT score
  • SAT range: Math: 730-790; Reading & Writing: 700-770
  • ACT range: 32-35
  • Princeton’s supplemenatry application
  • Graded written paper from high school

Note:

  • The graded written paper must be submitted in English and can come from O- or A- level coursework.
  • Candidates from countries where English is not a primar language need to take up TOEFL, IELTS, or PTE as a proof of English language proficiency.
  • International students are eligible for financial aid just as the domestic applicants. Grants are available to international students who qualify.
  • In the absence of a guidance councellor, international students can ask any school official to complete the required forms preferably in English.

Princeton University Graduate Admissions

Princeton University offers 18 master’s degree programs and 42 doctoral programs to more than 2,700 graduate students. More than 40% of graduate students at the university come from abroad. Graduate admission decisions at Princeton are made by the faculty of the candidate’s selected area of study with assisstance from the Graduate School, which helps in determining the minimum requirements for admission.

Documents Required for Princeton Graduate Admissions

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Essay and/or SOP for US
  • Letters of recommendation to study in US
  • Resume/Curriculum Vitae
  • Transcripts (should be uploaded with official English translation if the transcripts are in a different language)
  • Fall Semester Grades (from the college/university the student is currently enrolled in)
  • GRE/GMAT scores not more than 5 years old (submitted via Educational Testing Service)
  • TOEFL/IELTS scores for international students
  • Statement of Financial Resources
  • Completed application for admission

Princeton University Admission Decision

The Graduate School at Princeton must receive an online submitted acceptance by April 15 from the selected candidates to ensure their spot at their desired department. Selected undergraduate students must reply to the university by May 1 to confirm their spot at Princeton University.
